Valentine's Day statistics

Before we move on I feel like putting some facts about the Valentine's day. Sorry to the miserables who say they don't believe in this commercially exaggerated unnecessary ritual, you know who you are. Spoil sports!

We spent £22 million on flowers which came from as far as Kenya, Israel, Ecuador and India. (see the benefit to the poorer countries?)

Last year Hertforshire police sent 100,000 cards inviting people to join the force.(see, the proof that the police have a heart.)

In 2004 Newquay zoo offered discounts to anyone adopting a pair of animals as a gift. (see, how many animals got parents they can ignore and abuse?)

This year if you adopted a monkey as a Valentine gift then your loved one received a valentine card from the monkey on your behalf. (see, you won't go to a dogs house for forgetting the card.)

In 2003 Gretna Green broke a record for 84 marriages on Valentine's Day. (see, how many divorce lawyers will be planning a luxury holiday?)

In 2003 A Valentine card signed by Princess Diana fetched £2000 at an auction in Cambridge. (Well, not every thing has a benefit.)
