Friendly Help

I called the unpaid Consultants' Board meeting this afternoon. I mean I went out with a couple of friends for a late lunch. I hoped to give them a headache with my winging. I am getting really bad. I will have to snap out of it or else I will turn into a miserable moaning machine.

I "use" my friends as a sounding board at times. It is always comforting to talk over big decisions with someone. I am worried about the way my business is going. I left it to the Manager for too long as I was doing other more rewarding work. I need to take the control back. I need to trim the workforce. I am feeling very bad about my employees but it has to be done. I have put it off for a few months now but can't carry on any longer.

When I came back from the lunch the full bottle of brandy was empty and the sickie was back in bed. All evening he has been refusing to get up or eat anything. There will be a big struggle to give him the medicine tonight. Perhaps it was in retaliation for me going out "to enjoy myself" rather than go out to work. A good way to make me feel guilty that I had a good lunch and he has nothing to eat all day.

When we got to the pub/restaurant the small car park was nearly full. The first empty place I parked my car in, we struggled to open the door to get out. Moved along to the other space. The car on the other side had parked so forward that my car was sticking out more than half. Moved to the last space which was under a small tree and large bushes on one side. A prickly fence on the other side. As we got out friend 1 got scratched with the fence. It caught her arm which drew a little blood. She reacted as if she was being dragged to the abattoir. She needed calming down with a large vodka. Friend 2 was talking so much that she went on auto pilot. After coming out of the loo she washed her hands and was trying to dry them under the Tampex dispenser muttering what the heck was wrong with this blooming dryer! She settled down after a large brandy and coke. The muggins here was driving so had to settle with a diet coke.

The pub had the policy of ordering the food at the bar and paying there before they brought it to your table. Two had main meals and one had lighter (smaller portion) meal. The pub was advertising for buy one get the cheaper one free. When we ordered and paid we realized that we had the lighter meal given free which was not correct as that was not what was advertised. Since we all were in an assertive mood we complained. It was ignored saying that everything on the menu was included in the offer although lighter meals were clearly separate with different colour printing too. It wasn't the money, it was a matter of principle.

So to cut the story short (!) we moaned a lot, took a decision or two but none of that was to help me in my business. The decisions were taken not to go there again and for me to write to the Manager. Of course I am writing the blog so I don't have time to write to the pub!
