Stubborn determination
I said I will tell you about my friend and her determination to get better. She used to work for me and was very good at taking care of me like a big sister. She was thought of being a little hypochondriac so her complaints were investigated one by one during her continuous hospital visits on her turn on the waiting list. She was getting worse and when she collapsed one day it was diagnoised that she had a brain tumour. It was on a very delicate place and was unoperable. The surgeon had to open her up to release the pressure and she returned to the ward paralysed from the neck down. We were horrifed and grief-stricken. I will not go into all the details of all the treatment. Her medical team was very good, caring and helpful. It was thought that it didn't look very good and if she was ever released from hospital she would be in a wheelchair for the rest of her days.
This is were her stubborn determination and positive thinking came in. She said she was going to walk again and come home. She came home and she eventually walked. It was a long hard struggle but she did it and the struggle still goes on.
