Why do you blog?

So why do I blog? Why do I keep a very regular check on a couple of blogs?

I have no idea why others do this. They must have their own reasons, perhaps some same as mine perhaps totally different. I have someone who is absolutely shocked, up to a point of disgust, that I tell the world about my life or write about my feelings. Says it is like leaving your window or door open for any stranger to have a look in your house. Sacrifice of your privacy.

I am a kind of person who need to talk things over. I dissect everything I feel, I think, I do - not intentionally, it's just way I am. Writing a blog gives me that freedom. By blogging I am letting my feelings out without someone having to listen to me. It also keeps a few friends up to date with your news all in one go. Blogging also helps in keeping a record of your life. It reminds you what your feelings were at a certain time of your life. No doubt there are bad points to being open to all but you have the control of what you say and what you want to keep to yourself!

I read some blogs regularly because of course I like what they write, the way they write it. I can empathize with what is going on in their lives. I perhaps get to know things I normally will not know.eg. other cities, places, younger people and their lifestyle, older people and their experiences. It is also like having a discussion and learning different points of view. People with full social life may not need this but I do not have many close people even though I know a lot of people because of work. I have no one in my family and my siblings are abroad. I am extremely emotional. I feel lonely. This is like having a friend without other paraphernalia. This is like having someone in your house without the baggage. This is like asking a family member "how was your day today"? It is virtual connection and chemistry with virtual friends!

Besides it's like a TV serial, you get hooked on the next episodes! LOL

Found you through Britblogs. Why do you blog? Good for you! Why do we all do it? I guess some need to, maybe some are exhibitionists too.. or maybe a way to share in our humanity. How about we just like it. It's all good. Keep it up :)

Yeah I'm still figuring out the inner workings of my blog too but since I'm fairly profficient with html it's not been that hard.

I'm a regular too - and I keep meaning to sit down and drop you a message on how to add links to your site... here's a quick try: once logged into Blogger, create a post, about a day out at a museum for example... then find the web address of the museum, and on the top of the box there's a green thing next to the 'i' - click on it and delete the 'http://' that comes up and paste the link you found into the pop-up box, then click 'OK' and you have a link out of your blog. To do it on the side it's slightly more complex, but once you're logged in click on 'template' and copy the weird text that's under 'links' delete the example they give and paste a link there, then you can write a short bit of text describing what the link is. then u have to save changes, and republish your blog.

So when I do a link to a page of photos I've taken, I copy the weblink, paste it between the "" with no spaces, and I type in 'v&a' (no apostophes)between the >< then when you want to add new links, copy the whole link and paste it above or below and change the link and text accordingly... sounds harder than it actually is ! you get used to it after a while

see ya, Streaky
