Nine day Hindu dancing festival
I must thank the people for their comments on and off the blog. It does make a difference to know someone not directly involved agrees and approves.
Thanks to the people at the event too. It is worth while to go when you know someone will be looking out for you. It was nice to mix in and feel a part of something.
I made about 10 phone calls to make sure they were ok at home. Despite the reminders for their lunch and tea when I returned at night the dog was not fed and the person has not eaten either ! Oh well, one day's fasting is not going to kill them. Normally when go to meetings etc. In the week days there are other people in the property. Today being Sunday they were totally alone. Anyway the day is over and I am back.
The return journey was uncomfortable part of the way. The latter part of the journey
was interesting. There was a white young lady in Indian costume. She was wearing a saree and had her palms and hands painted with henna. She had the full works on. All the jewllery, bangles on the wrists, chains on ankles, a dot on the forehead. As it turned out she was returning from an Indian Hindu religious dance function. There is a nine day dancing festival going on at the moment. The story goes that a Hindu goddess destroyed nine evil men on each of those nine days and those days were celebrated every year thereon. These days it is more of a social event than the religious one. The young lady was very close to her Indian friend/friends and wanted to share the fun and happiness with them. I remembered what I said only yesterday. If you really care for someone you want to really know them and make them happy in any way possible. Is this not an example of it? This is also so good for harmony and
race relations. well done to the young lady.
