Mug
I rushed to the supermarket on the way to the meeting. In the trolley park there was this elderly gentleman trying to push a trolley in the back of the others so that he can push the handle through to get his coin out. I went out of my way to that side to help him. I said, "it's ok, don't struggle. Are you trying to get your coin out?" He said "yes". I said, "here I give you £1 and I'll take your trolley saving you messing about." He extended his hand and I gave him the coin.
After a dash in the shop I came out and went to park the trolley. Lo and behold, I could not push the trolley in! Not only that there was no coin in there what so ever. Now normally I would not have bothered to fuss for a £1 coin but I felt that the supermarket was at fault for having such a stupid trolley. I went in to complain about their different size trollies and said that it was not fair for elderly customers to struggle like this. The clerk behind the counter said, "sorry for laughing but did he do you too?" As it turns out the "poor old man" picks up the internal trolley (old modles) used for stacking the shelves and tries to claim the missing £1. A few before me have been sharp enough to notice there was no coin before they paid him......Well I must have "A Mug" written on my forehead ! I always fall for the tricks. Although I am on the ball when it comes to business deals my radar switches off in social situation.
He is probably smiling at his skills, I am too.
