Trivia - Cutting hair

I work till 1300 hours on Saturdays. Today I took my dog to work again because on my return I could have a walk with her through the green. Yes, the same dog and the same office in my first blog when we got lost in the woods. It has been too warm lately and with long hair the dog gets real warm. I thought I will trim the dog's hair, the second time this year (never done that in her 11 years' life). The doggie beauty saloons are so busy to do that without prior appointment and I can never guarantee i will have time when they have!

When she saw the comb and the scissors in my hand I think she had the flashback from the last time she was put through this humiliation. So there we were again, me running after the dog with the scissors and the dog running zigzag in all directions to avoid the process, pretending to sniff the ground. After a dozon or so dog treats and a couple of toys squeaking in front of her she was convienced to let me practice my barbar skills. Despite the dog hair flying all over the open green area and me having a back ache the skill was not perfected. By the way I was told by an old lady that dog hair in the woods is not a Pollution. The birds take them to built their nests. The dog did threaten to sue me the last time but I will make sure she stays away from the mirrors (and other doggies) until the hair grows back again.

This reminds me of a friend when I was about 10. Not many girls, actually nobody, had their hair cut short in those days in that culture. We did cut the ends straight though to make it tidy. I offered to "do" my friend's hair. I was the bossy one so she couldn't say no. Well there we go! I tried my best but one side always looked shorter or longer than the other one. I had to keep going to level them off! Eventually the poor girl ended with something hanging just above her neck. She was so scared to go home! She knew she would be in trouble with the parents. Well she was. I didn't go down to her house for months...guilty conceous you see. I am glad that she was still my friend many years later.

Unfortunately she died 10 years ago and I regret that I never said sorry to her for ruining her hair all those years ago, although she probably knew that!
