Spending
A couple of days ago I bought a new car. It is beautiful and very comfortable. A joy to drive ! Mind you I paid a little more than I originally wanted to but it is worth it. I had the old one for 3 years so it was about time.
Today a friend texted to say that there were flat screen monitors on offer just for today. Well his punishment for telling me was that he should go to the shop and get it for me and install it! It is done and the monitor is great.
That's where we come to on "a pleasurable day - until now" bit. I have been thinking that there was no real need for me to upgrade the monitor. My conventional one is quite new any way. I have been thinking that there are millions of people in the world who are starving. They don't have any money for clothing or medicine. Out of the money I spent on my luxuries how many lives could have been saved?
Then again, would I have sent my money to them if I had not bought items of comfort for me? Apart from helping a little here and a little there or donating to a charity here and a charity there I haven't given up many more things from my life for the good of mankind yet. Oh well, it is late at night. When I wake up in the morning all these thoughts will go to the very back of my mind and I will join the rat race again for that day.
In fact, I probably shouldn't have gone off on the tangent I did in your other post entitled "Floods", considering that I really don't know much about you or your beliefs. I'm sorry if I have offended you with that, and would appreciate if you could let me know whether or not such replies would continue to be welcomed here, so I will better know when and where to restrain myself. (albeit sometimes I honestly find myself out of control preaching about some things)
Thanks.
